JOB SHADOWING AT NUH!!!!!!
the faculty of dentistry NUS organised this supposedly 2 days stint for interested dentist-wannabe. due to popular demand, they can only accomodate us for a day each. but wells, it was good enough.
i mean, everything was fantastic. i learnt so much more than books could ever provide me. i get to see and perhaps "experience" drilling, extraction, filling, crowning and much more. maybe because of my tramatic experience with the primary sch dentists which i still feel that that lady was really an amateur, i thought dentists are evil pple who only know how to extract tooth.
absolutely NO!
my dentist whom i was attached to, is a fine young man.
1) yesyes, he has the intelligence to become a dentist.
2) he was able to make his patients so comfortable with him, making small talk with them, yet his level of professionism is there.
3) i admire this pt of him best. his philosophy is : to cure every tooth and he doesnt like to do an extraction. he told me, if a tooth can be saved, he wont do an extraction if possible. he mentioned, an extraction is not good for the other teeth and gums.
i think i gave him a very very bad first impression which i greatly regretted it. he asked if i was going to apply for dentistry. i told him a straight no. he was taken aback. i said, because my grades couldnt make the cut....
he said... in rather "stern" tone. " to me, personally, i dont believe in results. but sadly, singapore looks at grades."
he said interests and passion are more impt than brillant grades. the interest must be there. i asked if being a dentist was his ambition. he said no. he just had the interest so he took it up. hmmm he was from national jc.
i like him because he is very straight forward. when i said my grades cant make it, he asked if i have an A. i nodded my head.
him: then.. the rest are b and c?
me: ya.. very lousy grades, better not try.... so embarrassing...
him: i dun believe in results. if u have the interest, i suggest u should just try. just go apply. who knows....
i am very inspired by him. and the way he treats the pple. later on, we had the opportunity to attached to a group of final year students, doing some hands on work as well. but i feel, he is still the best.
maybe he has graduated and acquired the skills and experience better than final year students. it is uncomparable bah. i cant describe it now. maybe vivian knows what i am talking abt.
the dentist i was attached to is Dr Aaron Tan.
he is very professional. the way he does the crowning or filling... i was in awe of him. totally.
and dr tan is not old. i guess he is around 28? abt 173cm and have a 38 inch waist? oh yes, my type of guy. abit fat and cute. yet, has the intelligence to boot.
oh man. heard that he is attached...
hahaha no la. i didnt go there to look at guys. really la!!!
i gained some exposure.
i have yet learned a whole experience.
