hahahasorry for mia-ing for the past few days. if u guys havent not know, i was in hongkong during the last weekend. yes yes, i took a break and went holiday-ing with my girlfriends. awesome? yea it was.
hmmm, this trip... has been procastinating for such a long time.. i think we made plans for this since end of the a levels. the plans sort of dragged and dragged, due to my personal committments as well as the others'. initially hk trip was supposely cancelled (ps: i am so sorry vivi and yuenleng)... then it was revived again yet not confirmed.
finally finally, one fine day 28 june, my dear geraldine sms-ed ms michelle during office hours to ask if the hk trip is on. and i always think, geri, u are the catayst loh. luckily u asked that qns!!!!
the rest is history bah. we booked the flight on that very night. the next day, vivi read my blog and she is the most ON person i ever knew bah. she went home to book cathay air ticket right away. we will be reaching hk at 10.20am and vivi will be joining us that very night.
vivi arh, yea, i remembered i gave her a call, asking whether she wanna go and watch jj concert with me. she AGREED right away. kaoz. *applause please*hmmm, actually everything happened in a flash. we booked tickets on 28jun, we were set to fly off on 8jul. wah!!!!! it was a 5 days *MAXIMISED* hk trip, flying by jetstar. to make our hard earned money worth, we got the earliest flight and returning on the latest time. good job geri!!!
494. airfare and hotel accomodation. taxes included. cheap?? hmmm, hotel wise, i think it is quite strategically located. ladies street is just 5 min walk away? mtr is just 10 min walk? kbox and 7-11 are 5 min walk from hotel??
jetstar, my first time flying by budget airline. i had imagined the worst lar, but it turned out better than i expected, except for the backrest. i tot it will be a lao por-luo plane, with poor air ventilation and the plane will stink and be damn dirty at the sides. however it is not. if u are not a fussy traveller, and u wont die of hunger from a 4hr flight, flying budget is the best lar. it is clean and safe like SQ, yes yes, the seatbelts are in good condition. the only difference is.. the plane might be too small for those who suffer from Claustrophobia. and the leg space is really limited, very easy to get economy class syndrome man. hmmm... all these doesnt affect me except for the backrest. it is VERY uncomfortable. i cant find the suitable angle. in the end, i gave up, and just put the seat upright. whether is it upright or inclined, it feels the same : uncomfortable.
okok lar. all these are just secondary. this small plane, DUH!!!, more prone to air tubulences... kinda scary lar, but it can still withstand!!!
okok enough... but i think the air stewardess in the flight provides much better service than SQ. sorry to say, but i lost my trust in SQ, after a couple of unhappiness flying with them. some of the SQ girls are really discriminating towards locals.. that's what i felt.have u ever encounter being answered back by an air stewardess??? insane i tell u. i asked for sugar, a cold reply came back to me "why do u need sugar for?"
HELLO!!! i paid freaking EXTRA 300 bucks to fly by sq, and this is called quality service i will receive.
for goodness sake, even at the restaurant, if a customer asked for sugar, she asked and will be given...
be it sugar for my tea or for my buttered bread, i see NO NEED to be answerable to u, MADAM. it is just sugar for crying out loud. sigh.
" excuse me, can i please have some sugar, do u all have sugar???? i dun think i need to tell u why i need the sugar for.."
anyway, the sugar didnt come. and my row(my sis and i) were skipped during serving of meals. thankyou arh. hmmm maybe because caucasians are supposedly to be served first?? the row in front and behind me were foreigners.
stop bitching michelle.
HONGKONG, HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!First Day:
time check: 520am. very early isnt it? everyone was damn punctual. everyone was in the airport by 515am.
from top left hand corner (clockwise)
yeah, this photo is taken by he mama. *applause please* because she hardly uses the camera... and the photo turned out fine!!!!!!
yeah, can u see our flight??!! it is 3K 691. hk, here we come!!!
we are in the transit lounge. energy shi zu!!!!
me and my dear tong lei: geraldineduring the journey, huixian and i were feeling kinda exhausted. we slept on the plane, while yuen and geri were so high.... i still remember " 500, 400, 300, 200, 100, LANDddddd...." damn hilarious can? yeah, spirits were damn high!!! time check: 630am. very early right???
yeah we are on the aircraft. huixian and i sat tog, while yuen and geri were a row in front of us. okokies, as u all can see, yuen is very excited loh... "yuen arh, geri wanna sleEEeeePpPpp...."
taken on the plane. very good weather, dont u think so?? look at those puffy clouds. they caused the air turbulences =X *seemed that they are not as nice as cotton candies.....Time check: 10.40am.
We were on time. there was no delay. kudos!!! hmmm, we had to take this shuttle bus to the airport immigration... instead of us walking directly there thru the connector. a new experience i would say. when we first stepped out of the plane, weather said it all. Hot!!! somemore it STILL feel as if we were in spore. not much feeling leh!!! how how????into the airport, first thing i did was to call back home... to tell my worried mama that i have reached hk safe and sound. at the immigration, saw huge groups of cheena tourists. wahh!! are they also having their summer holidays?
after we collected our baggage, next up was : How to get to Mongkok in the shortest time yet through the cheapest way?we had checked it out. going by airport express, it will cost us sing 15 bucks each *SCREAM EXPENSIVE!!!!!* neither we have a mini van to fetch us to the hotel. so... we took the public transport. had to buy the "ba da tong", the octopus card they called it.. it is just like our ez link. the public transport system is different from ours. each bus route has one fixed bus fare. whether it is 1 stop of 10 stops, it makes no difference. so, it is very hua if yr trip gonna be a long one..
yep, we took the public bus, and they had assigned space for our baggage, cool huh? then, DUH!!!!! we started acting like tourists *AHEM, we are actually*, and took photos on the bus and the scenary.
our first photo at HK international Airport. with our baggage.
geri is digging her 'kong guan' biscuits. i called it the gan liang, while yuenleng looked on. thanks geri for the gan liang. it definitely helped us to curb our hunger!!!!
look here!!! smilezz!! oh michelle and huixian looked bloody chio here can...
hahha i took this when they werent ready. It turned out pretty loh...
yeahyeah, me and my obsession with hsbc...why? cannot arh. it was just my last day yesterday!!!! hsbc is the biggest bank in hk loh. dun play play.Time check: around 1pm.
after checking into the hotel, we were famished!!!!! we went into a cafe, which was 10 min walk from our hotel. hmmm, ok, we looked kinda lost, the menu was very confusing!!!!!
at one of the poster menu, they called it the "chang dan", loosely translated "normal meal". there were 1. 2. 3. 4. and below they wrote "with a free drink". and blimey me, it cost 28 hk money sia. wah!!! we were thinking.. hmmm hk food not very cheap sia.
then we starting to show our tourisy actions, by asking the lady boss what does that mean. Oh, actually, we dun have to choose the 1. 2. 3. 4. IT IS A SET!!!!!!
a bowl of noddle, fried egg with ham, toast, drink. it was too much bah. i didnt managed to finish it :(
taken in the cafe. look at our iced milk tea.
after lunch, we decided to go lan kwai fong, to check out the pub prices. if the price was reasonable enough, we will watch the soccer finals at the hk pub. cool right?? but abit no feel to go there in the afternoon. but go during night time meh??? 5 foreign teenage girls?? no thankyou sia..we asked around for the price. i think it is okay lar. but not very cheap though. free flow drink and food. 200 hk money=40 sing dollars. if u are the kind who will make the money worth by drinking, i think it is pretty good lar. but we dun drink that much... so.. too bad. zi high in hotel room shall be it.after that, we did our own venturing around hk. all the shopping centres where we went, i am so sorry, i am really very bad with names.. or is it because of my selective memory?? *okay, after peeping at geri's blog, it is Kwai Chung Plaza. KCP, it is a very big shopping complex. alittle old, but there were many shops!!! yea, our first shopping destination, and each of us managed to buy something from there. woah!!! the things there are relatively cheaper, however bargaining wasnt sucessful. i didnt managed to buy much from there. maybe because the clothes there, were not my kind. and, NO TRYING of clothes!!! how can???!! sigh, and why are hk-ers that slim?? i just managed to get accessories and shoes.initially was able to get bags, but kanna kaobei by the shopkeeper. bleah =p i can always buy from other stores....hmmm first day was terrible for me bah. i am so thankful i went with a bunch of understanding girlfrens. i have to apologise if i have been in a bad mood :( extremely sorry!! btw, having reasons are just excuses...at night, we went ladies' market. terrible!!!! geri was kinda disappointed. same here. it wasnt like that in the past!!!! arrh... perhaps we will give it another chance on the last night.Time check: 3ami told u the first day was terrible. including during the night!!!! yar yar, portugal lost to home team:germany. the match was akin to adding salt to my wound. sigh. own goal? what the.... $$$ fly away sia.... wished the finals wont be that crappy. i was wrong again [--''']Second day :
Time check: 1130am
we have our lunchie at 'Dai Car Lok". kinda of a fast food rest in hk? anyway i miss the cheese fondue they served during winter. it is heavenly and bloody cheap can!!! my bro was almost swimming in the hot cheese.

oh lunch was good. ordered this 'mixed meat rice'. what a mini spread. i had soya sauce chicken wing, cha siew, salted egg, veggie and sotong? anyway, it was filling and delicious lar!! their serving of rice is HUGE. i cant even finish half at times lar!!! too much!!!! sigh. that set dun have the roast meat which i was looking forward to :(
after lunch, we went to buy tickets at admiralty mtr to go to OCEAN PARK!!!! woah. the last time i went was in 1999. i was in ocean park when the psle posting results were out. okay, irrelevant but kinda happy because got into my first choice. yep. the photos were taken outside ocean park. nice scenary right??? weather was great after the short drizzle in the morning. but little did we knew, it was scorching HOT in the afternoon. huixian, geri and yuenleng nearly melted sia. they were wearing jeans my dear!!!! though i wore shorts, i was sweating like noone business. i think i lost 2kg that day (YAR RIGHT, 2kg of WATER not FATS, darn!)
Time check: nearly 1pm
yea, take a good look at the group photo. yar lar, i know we looked chio. what is so significant abt it?? haiya. we wanted the signboard saying "Hai Yang Gong Yuan". so we asked this group of hk teens to help us take a group photo. and this was the result. sigh sigh. later we asked for a retake, they KB us and told us if we wan to take with the wordings, should just hang ourselves up there. *roll eyes* whatever u say...
the group photo on the right, i love it!!!! yeah, i had difficulty climbing up sia. short legs mah.. and i am afraid of heights. but had to climb to be able to take such a scenic photo. worth it. a picture says a thousand words. dun u agree?? i think it shows we were having great fun at tat time....everyone says cheeezzzzeee!!!!!!!!
(btw, jenny jie said she took a photo at the same spot before... show me jenny jie!!!!)
taken on the ultra long escalator... kinda afraid might fall off the escalator while taking the photo.look at the breath-taking scenie photo.okay, more photos for u pple....
photos not too bad, taken with my lan bong hp cam.....
when we took the cable car, woah!! we literally passed by those filthy rich pple homes. like woah (x3). hmmm hk has plenty of hills, it is quite tough to make them into 'living flat lands'. each cable car can carry 6 pple, the ride was enjoyable. me and my 4 girlfriends were just relaxing in the cable car, enjoying the good view of hk as well as the cool breeze. at tat moment, i felt lucky.... thanks to everyone for giving me such an enjoyable trip.we didnt sat ALL the rides. haiya, not as if i dare to go for ALL the rides. especially the "free-fall" space shot, i die die also dont wan to sit. why arh? i got weak heart lar. and a big part is because i heard that dreadful story from geri or yuen? hair, girl, head. OH GROSS!Time check: 430pm.okay, we were exhausted. duh!!! weather was horrible i tell u. so... we went to grab good seats for our dolphin show. sat at the middle section and plong our butts.. woah! finally seats for us to rest our legs. i tried to nap sia. i am so so so tired!!!!!! and tonight gonna stay up for soccer finals!! btw, dun talk abt it. lost money. darn, stupid penalty. poor france :(okay. just when the dolphin show was about to start, huixian asked me a qns. haha! it is so funny for her to ask that qns at that time. ok. the qns is not funny lar. xian asked, "mich, do u think the dolphins are really happy?"so GP huixian!!!! arrh!!!!!the show was good. i went to ocean park before, however it was many years ago. cant really remember anything. but going with frens and family are 2 diff gan jue. after a trip which i enjoyed myself very much, i long for the next trip with the same grp of pple. arh!! yuen-hx-vivi-geri!!!! when will be the next trip?? left ocean park and headed to tsim sha shui for dinner... correct anot arh? sigh, like almost everywhere we went, we felt so DL because some irritating pple came to SL us... sigh sigh. we were starving already, but still had to tolerate that cafe guy. their wanton mee also not say super nice.. bleah! we finished up the food because we were hungry man!!! food in ocean park was freaking ex.after dinner. it wasnt that late. night was still young. so we headed down to espirit outlet. things there are really much cheaper than spore. and everything there is not entirely old stocks loh.. i find some of the designs nicer sia. okay, we spent quite a long time in espirt. that store itself could keep us busy!!! and not only time spent... $$$ also..... quite happy with my loot. but can someone stop me from getting more jackets?? okay. actually huixian did try to control me. and she succeeded.
okaay. all time high with our loot!!
we sat the public bus back to mongkok. and everyone tried to stay up to watch the finals. i think i was the sole survivor, who managed to catch the first 2 goals, the zidane incident, extra time and the penalty shootout. bleaah! lost $$$ :(
Third day :Time check: 12 noon or so.Today will be different. and is different. we have a 'te bie lai bing'. let's put our hands together to welcome MR WALMOND!!!!! hahaha the come about of his name. i just knew during the trip.
mr walmond is a nice guy, who helped us carry our heavy shopping bags, a guy who is willing to accompany 5 lang lui shopping at hk, together with vivi, brought us around hk, brought us to experience being a hk-er for a day : sitting of 'xiao ba'. yar. we ran for the bus. he doesnt whine or complain, but he seemed super shocked at the rate we bought our stuffs, especially from crazy room. whey! one wallet and bag for myself, the others were to be given away.and..... i added an additonal 20 pts to mr walmond because he bought for us...."piping hot, fresh-from-the-oven, famous eggtarts!!!!!" * okay i exaggerated. so?this is the 3rd day, and we decided to yum cha. how can we miss out on this activity? so vivian tot of bringing us to the place she usually goes. however, the restaurant closed down. for renovation or what? then i think the rest besides it was making big money. no choice, we went to the other one. not bad also lar. i like the chicken legs though.we sat public bus there. journey was kinda long!! okay. travelling expenses was woah!!
okay enough of photos of ourselves. FEAST TIME!! we really ordered alot of food.
ok. i wanna dedicate these photos to val jiejie. she loves har-gao like noone business. if only she could have a birthday cake of har-gao, or a big gigantic har-gao bdae cake. whatever it is, she just loves har-gao lar. sorry, i couldnt DHL back the har-gao...
look at the har gaos!!!!! they were really HUGE!!!!! hmmm one thing very gd about the hk chefs are that, they are not stingy over prawns. they put in like 3 small prawns or one big gigiantic king prawn in each har gaos? the wrapping is thin, and the filling is big. woah!! be careful, u might get choke on har gao in hk, i am not kidding! see for yself. maybe the pic cannot see properly. it is really shuang!
i think we were hungry like pigs? i dunnoe. but we really ordered alot alot of food. ate till everyone was damn bloated!!!!! and the table showed half of the first round we ordered. After quite some time at the yum cha restaurant, we made a move to the store 'Crazy Room'. It was not called crazy room for nothing. some of us went alittle crazy, snapping out their cheap bags, wallets and clothes! i had gotten for myself a tote bag and a wallet. i needed a new wallet, the one i was currently using was too old and has only one pathetic compartment. all the cards, notes, coins, receipts and all kinds of rubbish were inside.
okay. the salegirls were super happy and shocked as well. i guessed they could submit their sale closure for that month!! we were really boosting the hk economy!!
after which, we proceeded to a factory outlet at kwun tong, which sells almost anything from sports apparrel to costmetics. sigh. i wished i could get more stuffs from adidas. i grabbed a pullover for 89 hk money. i was disappointed. they dun sell tshirts shorts or those summer season there!!!
okay. shopping bags were really getting heavier. and everyone was exhausted. thus we asked walmond if there were any 'xiao ba' back to mongkok. hmmm, he is not very sure of the place, but he even took the initiative to find out from his friends. woah!!
yep, finally, my long awaited and highly anticipated xiao ba trip back to mongkok. i've been to hk alot of times, but i had no chance to travel in the 'small bus', loosely translated.

top left hand corner (clockwise): the girls on the MTR. yeah, in hongkong, the mrt is called MTR.
look at their rather sophisticated trainline.
geri and hx on xiao ba.
with vivi's long arms and good photo-taking skills, everyone managed to be in the photo..well done vivi!!!
Time check: nearly7pm.
we reached mongkok after a rather long bus journey. okay, walmond came into our room and he was very shocked that 5 of us were actually squeezing into a room. a pity, we didnt managed to take a photo of the size of the room right?? haiya. it was small lar. there can be no 2 people, opening their luggage at the same time. and the pathway is only that big for one person. the additional space of the room were taken up by the foldable bed, luggage, and our shopping bags! luckily though space is very limited, but the room still had good ventilation. or else i will die. and everyone has really good hygience levels... as in... the room didnt even stink loh!!! perfect.
what we had for dinner. this beef tedons and ignards noodles. the uncle gave attitude to us. what's new anyway? we were kinda xi guan by the way pple treated us. we just wanted to sit together, but seemed that each table can only sit 3max. fine loh. hmmm on sunday, the Newpaper came up with an article, talking about those rude hawkers. thought the owners and assist up to the cleaning person of that stall were rude impolite and whatever, they have an endless queue to boost. woah! that stall was popular man. and.. it was situated at an alley. imagine, along all the shops that sell clothes shoes, at one of the alleys there is this stall selling noodles. cool huh? u cant find this in spore. i think the govt would most prob close the stall for unhygiene handling of food and unsuitable environment to serve edible food to public.
okay. since we were at mongkok, and ladies street was disappointing, we headed to the ultra big shopping centre, which boost 12 storeys or more? i forgotten. anyway the place is called lam hum shopping centre. the escalators there can put the ones at ocean park to shame. why hk love extreme long escalators? i am very fascinated by the length. hmmm, can spore have such a long long one??? yep. each escalator covered like 4-5 floors. but the concept of this shopping centre. there were 2 ultra long escal, which would bring u up to the highest floor. from there, you would have to 'walk' yr way down to the ground level. woah! then it was like to make sure u would 'pass by' every shop. gd marketing concept?
anyway, we didnt managed to buy anything from there. the prices there were the middle end, but since we were on a trip, of course we wan to buy the cheapest things in town lar! so... walmond bought us to another shopping place which has the "crazy room" store again, since everyone wanted a trip to crazyroom.
it was a very long WALK to the Olympian City. yes. we walked!! u all know how much i dislike walking. i dunnoe why. u pple can jio me to do any sports, i'll be on. but joggin running brisk walking... NO!
yes, we reached there abt 9pm. so quickly went to crazyroom. hx managed to buy a bag, but it is not something she wanted initially. nvm lar, it is still cheap. haha. i bought 2 belts from there. what a steal again. 2 sing money each!! but the design abit childish lar.
next stop: supermarket. okay, we were supposed to stalk up on water, but we bought alot of other stuffs. or is it me ONLY??!
okay, i kinda freaked everyone out by the amount of potato chips i bought. paiseh lar, my brother wanted mah!! bought some gums back for my sis.

yeah, it was rather late when we left the place. and the place seemed out of the way. no public bus insight.. (side track: on the way to Olympian City, i think i saw HK hsbc call centre...) ok back. the only transportation was TAXI!!!! yeahyeah. dun ask me to walk all the way back to mongkok with 2 bags fulls of chips. we parted with walmond. he was a GREAT tourguide!!! thankyou walmond for spending time with us.
we didnt wan to waste time in hk. we had an idea bah. to sing k at hk. and i supported the idea, since there was a NEWAY right beside our hotel. ok was a less-than-5-min walk. not that super cheap, but cheaper than the midnight k in spore. we paid about 20 sing money?? and their midnight is from 11pm to 545am!!!! so good right?
yar. we had a whale of the time!!! sang till 530am. amazing. when we stepped out, it was dawn. we saw the day break. and when we left, we saw alot of teenagers. are they still students? dont they have to go to sch?? is it their official summer holidays already?????
we didnt care lar. we were super tired. so tired that, we went back to hotel room, slept without taking a shower. only the clean freaks (me and vivian) die die also must take shower before hitting the bed. vivi still wanna wait for her hair to dry, even used the hair dryer!! i dun like to blow-dry my hair. the hot hot feeling at my head. eeeerrr.... i bathed after her.... and then after showering, went to sleep. okay, my hair was damn wet. i didnt really care lar. actually after the shower, u feel super refreshed!!! but then, my body needed to sleep.

after lunch, we decided to go lan kwai fong, to check out the pub prices. if the price was reasonable enough, we will watch the soccer finals at the hk pub. cool right?? but abit no feel to go there in the afternoon. but go during night time meh???
