happy 21st bdae guan zhen!

yst i attended her bdae gathering. other than "what's yr name?", the next most-asked qns was "how did u know guan zhen?"

on how me and guan zhen knew each other, was not the conventional way lar. i'm one of her contacts that she supposed to call for one of the church activities. how she got my number was when i did a survey for the nus open house.

she called and i rejected the invitation of the church activity, but she still continued chatting on the phone with me. i sort of talked to a stranger for nearly 20 min at that time. then she said, she will continue to keep in touch with me, and i casually said all right. duh! u feel like ending the call.. so just agreed.

but, guan zhen really kept in touch with me. then we started chit chatting on msn. that was like almost 3 months before the first sem began. she was the first nus senior i knew. after that, when i encountered problems with bidding or balloting or module info or whatever nus-related stuffs, i went to ask her and she will explain to me. she also shared with me stories abt nus bah. yep, a nice senior :)

even before sem start, she kept yue-ing me for lunch, but i couldnt make it as i was working. but she didnt stop asking. sem 1... our timetable clashed, so no lunch appointment. we seen each other photos but nv met in person before. it is like mere msn chatting frens.

sem 2 started. i took sci of music. she was the one who lent me her notes. on the day when i went to get the notes from her, it was the first time we met face to face. but meeting was short, i had to leave for tutorial.

then on mon, she asked if i received an email. opps. i dun really check all my mails la. then she said she has invited me to her bdae party. a small gathering with close frens and asked me to come also. actually i didnt want to, as i dunno anyone! then she assured me that there will be nus seniors around, then i can go make some new frens too.

hmmm, i turned up in the end. although the place was SUPER hard to find, it was at bukit timah. it is hard coz i rarely venture out from the east. yar, it was a small gathering, abt 20 + pple. had catered food and cake. yep, she was glad i came, and she introduced me to her frens. all of them in nus. then.. chit chatted with the seniors. although it was alittle weird, it wasnt uncomfortable la. the other seniors were very nice indeed. hmmm, seemed like nanyang girls pple are quite friendly. then got one pt of time, they were chatting abt their other frens. this in york, newyork, the other in uk, the other in where... that one in where. like WOAH!

yep, all their other frens were studying overseas, with scholarships. not surprising, guan zhen was rj alumus lar.

i tot i will leave after giving guan zhen her pressie. i didnt, i stayed till 10pm. hmmm, her21st bdae celebration wasnt what i imagined to be. tot she in rj, then will have those kind of pple, then will be a big big party, and alot of angmoh speaking pple... all dressed to the nineties. no leh. it is enough to invite her close frens from sec sch, her close bunch from rj and church frens. there were hardly any nus new frens she made bah. then, all of them wore like... casually. like very homely. most were just in tees and jeans. ya, the only thing is that they speak very good english. hardly any mandarin heard.

hmm... bdae celebration doesnt need to be in lavish restaurant or what. close frens celebrating with u.. i think it is more than enough.

hitting big two this year. and is going to be in exam period -_- the next day will be the start of my papers. was talking to this person from my orientation grp, she said "wah, poor thing, yr bdae will fall during exam period for the whole of nus life..."

so? yar, i think year2 sem2, it will be on a mon, might fall on a paper that time -_- but i can always celebrate later. yar, when u get older, it really doesnt matter that much. close frens and family who wish and celebrate with u is quite enough. it is like a reality check, on who u are still keeping in touch throughout these years. usually those who braved fire and dangers with me! hahahahaahaha.... yep, thanks alot girls! opps, gonna be thanks women!!!!!!!!

yep, seemed that i am happier this sem. last sem was really horrible la. could be the new environment. and sulk sulk sulk that noone is in the same course/fac with me. haha so decided to join next yr orientation as seniors. hopefully i will make someone not to feel as lonely as i felt before.
