KUDOS to that group of smu students who did a project on "reserving seats using packets of tissue papers". They gave out packets of tissue papers which were sponsered by SKM. The words on the packet screams " This seat is NOT taken. It's YOURS!"Personally, i dont mind people using school bags (which i do) or their files or better still, leave someone at the table to za-ga the table for you and friends. i cant stand that small packets of tissue paper used to chope seats. that small little fellow can be used to chop a whole table! what's going on?! i think this culture started at raffles place by the OLs. i think it is passed down from the aunties OLs to the younger OLs, BOOM! everyone is doing it! ridiculous lar. seriously leh. I wondered if next time, if i ever be an OL, will i become like that? goodness! power of tissue! i ever saw this group of OLs (A), "confiscating" another group of OLs (B) tissue paper and buat bodoh when they returned with their trays of food. Then group A did the same thing when they went to buy their food, leave another packet of tissue paper on the table. I wished another bitchier group of OLs (C) would do the same.. and this whole vicious cycle goes on.... till lunch hour is over. Maybe i should start my own campaign too. Take a plastic bag, and CONFISCATE/COLLECT all the packets of "free" tissue paper.this is one of the things that make us singaporeans.Singapore kindness movement hopes to encourage singaporeans to be more gracious through simple acts of kindness.i read another blog article written by Dr Tan. Another unique singaporean "movement". tada! the patting of seat. Haha! that one, i have to admit doing so. (not all the time!)http://www.nowhere.per.sg/?page_id=57he calls it "patting seat" syndrome and the whole process is "feel and shift". VERY funny lar!the whole process is like that (based on my experience too -________- i wanna shoot myself in the toe liao)1) stranger A got up, and you went up to the empty seat2) BEFORE sitting down, pat pat the seat and "feel" the temperature of the seat (dr tan wrote it as "hand will be rotated to test seat temperature <- GROSS!)3A) if OK! sit down normally and doze off.OR3B) if seat is still WARM (disgusting as it may sound), sit at the very edge of the seat. subconsciously, your butt will move backwards alittle by little. Place palm on seats to test waters aka temperature. REPEAT the "feel and shift" process until you occupy the whole seat. and of course, DOZE OFF.WTH! why am i like that?! why so auntie?! this is a legend. i saw my ah ma and my mum doing so. -_- '''SO, what else? What other actions?YOU, singaporean NOT enough if1) you can tahan the hot humid weather2) you peppered your sentences with our "powDerful" singlish 3) you like chicken rice/laksa/rojak/hokkien meeIf you are guilty to the above 2 actions (which i'm pretty sure you guys have done so before) and perhaps some OTHERS, yay! truly singaporean sia!*ahem, now, it has been confirmed that a well known celebrity has became a singaporean, would we ever see her doing the above actions? HAHA! i would love to see that!*
