#419 post
first of all,
HUAT ah! happy chinese new year! gong xi fa cai!!! It's only the first day of cny, yet i am having a stuffed nose and sore throat. How can start the brand new year like that?!
As usual, the tradition of going to my ah ma house for tuan yuan fan. this year is scaled down because my grandpa passed away last year. No steamboat dinner. But i did lao-ed my first lo hei! :) Went to waterloo street temple as well as the temple at joochiat road to pray for good health, prosperity and success! This year, I did not go there before 12 midnight so the crowd was manageable. Last year my sis had to pull me out from the crowd as i was going to be trampled on at the spot when you going to offer the joss sticks. But last year i managed to see my fav news anchor: huang zhi hao :)
Yay! received big fat ang pows from my parents and sister. THANKYOU! but year after year, i would just put the angpows aside and not use the money :)
Actually I personally look forward to cny. Not because of angpows but to those goodies (pineapple tarts, hae bi hiam, crackers..." and I love that lively atmosphere. Everything is good during CNY, dont you think so? The good aura around.. the chinese say "xi qi yang yang".
*i wished i could hear my fav cny song on radio :)
Chu Yi: first place of visitation was to my grandma's (paternal) house for chok lunch. Then headed to those elders' homes. The usual ones that we visit every year, yet once a year. Then again, cny is like that. you will pay those relatives a visit, but only during cny. But it is good to catch up with each other, with those usual questions. Next year I will have another set of questions to answer. "Where are you working now?" and questions along that line. Since recession is gonna stay for dunno-how-long, i shall be glad to get any job right now, and wait for economy to get better to get any "dream" job.
Arh, can we have chu san as PH too? i think 2 days are really too short. But wells, we shouldnt be complaining.. the others have one day of holiday only :X
*updates: thanks to geri, weekiat and ben for coming over for the cny party. thanks for giving me face man! just told you guys at 3+ am! and dear yq, i still love you the same! we will go yr house on next sat to pai nian k! :)
HAHA! since i have the time, i went to try out the quiz too! here are my results:
Your view on yourself:You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.
-my sis thinks im too straight forward at times, which isnt good.
The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.
-Oh ok, this quiz is getting quite accurate huh? haha but who doesnt like serious, smart and determined people. yar, i have a draft post, its contents was about "never judge a book by its cover".. but i never post it.
Your readiness to commit to a relationship:You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.
- hmmm...that's very true for now.
The seriousness of your love:You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.
- haha! i ended laughing at "arent interested in wasting time with people you dont really like". omg, isnt this point go very well with the "straight-forward trait"? yar, wont you fall deeply in love with the person you love? i'm a hopeless romantic.
Your views on education:You may not like to study but you have many practical ideas. You listen to your own instincts and tend to follow your heart, so you will probably end up with an unusual job.
- HAHA!! hopefully i end up with an unusual yet high paying and STABLE job huh? actually, in the past, i really love studying. i think this whole rat race thing killed all my interest. i was like a studious nerd till sec2 maybe? And, taurus are very practical people.
The right job for you:You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
- OHH!! i really didnt see this one! practicality! ^5 man, taurus are confirmed practical people! wells, any practical person would love to have a stable job and steady income. Dont you? But i think when you reach around 35, where money is no longer a big big issue, everyone should have a job that he/she really enjoys doing. Why just work for the money? Where are all the childhood dreams?
How do you view success:You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.
- I'm really afraid of failures. But often, i would think of the most pessimistic outcome, so whenever something good comes out from it, i would be over the moon!
What are you most afraid of:You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.
-Haha... hmmm
Who is your true self:You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.
-more often, i use my heart more than my head to think. that's bad isnt it? hello! im an educated person, and heart still rules over head. gosh!
